DAEGU, SOUTH KOREA - Jamaica's Usain Bolt was disqualified from the final of the men's 100m at the World Athletics Championships after a false start in Daegu today.
The world's fastest man and defending World champion, was disqualified under Rule 162.7 of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) competition rules 2010 - 2011.
From 1 January 2010, the IAAF false start rule 162.7 states as follows, Except in Combined Events, any athlete responsible for a false startshall be disqualified. In Combined Events, any athlete responsible for a false start shall be warned. Only one false start per race shall be allowed without the disqualification of the athlete(s) responsible for the false start. Any athlete(s) responsible for further false starts in the race shall be disqualified.
