The Barbados Music Awards is now becoming a
most welcomed staple for music fans around the
world, who awaits its presentation each year.
The show for 2010 was in honour of the late king
of pop Mr. Michael Jackson who passed away on
25th June, 2009. Mr. Jackson's father Joseph
Jackson attended the show to receive the
International Lifetime Achievement Award on
behalf of his son.
The show this year was blessed with a forty-five
minute presentation by Fantasia Barrino, who has
been the winner of the popular American Idol
show in 2004.
Other popular artistes who have the stage
include Rihanna, Alison Hinds, Edwin Yearwood,
and the list goes on and on.
This show was conceptualized by Mr. Ronnie
Clarke, who thought local artistes should be
treated on par to foreign artistes, who at times
have far more talent, and should be recognized
for their hard work.
The article is not only to compliment the show,
but asked question concerning the "Corner Stone
Award".
This award looks a lot like a miniature Obelisk
which is believed to be in honour of the god Ra.
Information on the
Obelisk also referred to in
Barbados as a
Cenotaph lines the guard wall
surrounding the popular Sandy Lane Hotel.
