Tropical Storm Tomas seem to have snuck up on the Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. Today was the first day many heard of this tropical storm.
It is almost commonplace to hear of tropical storms when they have just formed of the coast of the Afican continent, but this wasn't the case with Tomas.
Barbadians on hearing of the possibility of this tropical storm hitting the island rushed to the supermarkets to gather those non perishables which be needed, and fill their vehicles of petrol.
Barbadians are now hunkered down awaiting what might come of this tropical storm, which is the first for the year to affect the island during this hurricane season.
