Do you believe by praying to God, some minor psychological disorders can be cured?

Yes, I do, but most importantly, why do I believe it?

I believe not only in the power of prayer but also in God's ability to heal.

Back in the early 90's, I developed a lump on the back of my neck. I had been away from God for some time. I was too worried about my college classes and friends to be concerned with the lump. My Mom, however, didn't like it and insisted I go to church with her. I went to the service. My Mom strongly suggested (you know how Moms are when they strongly suggest something) that I go up for prayer. Remember when I went up, I had a lump on my neck. After the minister prayed over me, I didn't. It disappeared.

When people say that God doesn't heal every time, it angers me because they are putting a problem on God that is not His. It is His Will to heal every time. We see this in I Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:4-5 and III John 2. Jesus took stripes on His back for our healing.

I had a well-meaning "friend" who said, "Well, some are healed in Heaven."

We don't need healing in Heaven. We will have new glorified bodies there.

The Bible says on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). There is no sickness in Heaven so there should be no sickness on earth.

The same well-meaning "friend" lamented, "I don't know why Jesus doesn't heal them all."

We are blaming the wrong party for why people aren't cured.

I went to God about this conversation. I wondered if I could be totally wrong about healing. He told me that people aren't healed because they are instructed wrong.

The reason people are not healed doesn't lie with God. Instead it lies with us.

The reasons are simple.

1. People are not instructed that it is God's will to heal every time. They are taught to pray if it be God's will that a person be healed. The Bible clearly makes the case that it is God's will to heal every time.

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes We were healed. - I Peter 2:24 (NKJV).

Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. - Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV).

For I will restore health to thee And heal thee of our wounds,' says the LORD, - Jeremiah 30:17a (NKJV).

Beloved, I pray that we may prosper in all things and be in health, just as our soul prospers. - 3 John 1:2 (NKJV).

Jesus healed every one who came to Him who met His one requirement, which we will discuss later. If He healed them before going to the Cross with only one requirement, how much more is He willing to heal us now? After He went to the Cross? After He took stripes on His back for our healing?

You may say, "I know people who weren't healed. I know someone who died with their sicknesses...and they were Christians."

Which brings us to our next point.

2. People do not believe. That was Jesus' requirement. They must believe. In one town, He couldn't heal the people because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:54-58).

Jesus never asked or debated about whether the person did enough to earn their healing or listed their sins as reasons why He couldn't heal them. No, His concern was "Do they believe?".

We must believe to be saved. We must believe to be healed. We must believe to obtain any of the promises of God.

Jesus says in Mark 9:23 (NKJV), "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."

You might say, "But I know someone who believed and still died."

What Scriptures were they standing on? We can't claim our dry cleaning unless we have a ticket. We can't gain access to a Broadway show or movie without a ticket.

The same is true with God. The Word of God is our title deed, our claim ticket, to whatever we need (Hebrews 11:1 AMP). Without it, we cannot receive the promise. It does us no good to try to claim that we won the lottery without the ticket as proof.

We must have Scriptures to back up our claim to the healing promises of Jesus Christ. Without them, our claim to healing is worthless.

We must believe that God will heal us and that it is His will to heal us on this earth. We cannot do what God wants us to do, what He create us to do, if we are sick. Therefore, it is to His advantage, as well as ours, that He heal us.

One reason people don't believe in healing or that God can and will heal is because they have not experienced it. Once they do, I believe their minds will change.

3. They do not want to be healed. They think God wants them to be martyrs. They think they are taking one for the team. They believe God wants them to suffer. Others just want to trade their earthly lives for Heaven. Either way, they don't want to be healed. In that case, there is no point in praying for them to be healed because they are not in agreement with it.

Now that we have established that God does and will heal, the question was do you believe that praying will heal some minor psychological disorders.

In the Bible, it says that God restores our souls (Psalm 23:3). Our souls are our minds, wills and emotions. He also said that He would keep in perfect peace those whose mind is stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3). We should have sound, well-balanced, disciplined minds, according to 2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP). God is concerned about our minds.

The same healing that God appropriated for our bodies is the same healing for our minds.

Take the Scriptures that God has given us in His Word concerning healing. Confess those Scriptures. This will gird us about with the Word. We should keep doing this every day and believe that God is healing us. We can't wait until our healing manifests to thank God because when we thank God, we are receiving the healing God promised us in His Word. We must repeat the process until our healing comes.
