What
happened to Elijah and Enoch? There has been an issue all over the internet, and i'm sure
in many churches and households throughout the world
concerning a couple verses within the bible with respect to
Enoch and Elijah.
Enoch is the son of Jared, Enoch was the father of
Methuselah, the oldest living person in the bible who died
at nine hundred and sixty-nine years. Enoch his father,
according to the bible walked in tune with God, and at the
age of three hundred and sixty-five did not die, but was
taken by God.
The question then is where was he taken to.
The Bible does not mention much about the life of Enoch, but
to say that he did not see death as he was translated being
one who pleased God - Heb 11:5. He was the Seventh from
Adam, and had Prophesied of ungodly men who would creep in
among the saints turning the grace of our God into
lasciviousness, and deny the only Lord God, and our lord
Jesus Christ - Jud 1:14.
Elijah who was referred to as a man of God, also did not
experience death. Elijah was taken up into heaven by a
whirlwind - 2Ki 2:11. The word heaven here is believed to
refer simply to the sky, because the bible later
mentions in St. John 3:13 - And no man hath ascended up to
heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of
man which is in heaven.
Therefore as no man has ascended into heaven, where might
Elijah and Enoch be today?
Apart from the bible speaking of persons going to the grave
to sleep until that great day of the Lord, it also speaks of
persons going to another place called paradise from the
following examples. In Luke 23:46 Jesus spoke to the thief
saying today you will be with me in paradise. Therefore it
would suggest that heaven might be distinct from paradise.
This then becomes a bit confusing in 2 Cor 12:1-4 where the
third heaven and paradise might be one of the same.
So the question is whether Enoch and Elijah are in paradise
having not seen death, as the bible said no man have
ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven
